Texas Prevailing Wage Rates on Public Contracts
In regard to contracts for
public work awarded by the state or any other “public body,” a contractor or
sub contractor must pay the “general prevailing rate of per diem wages” for the
locality. This includes the rate
for overtime work and legal holidays.
This minimum rate must be specified by the “public
body” as it calls for bids.
Maintenance work is excluded from coverage. Any bidder or contractor must, in essence, protect their employees
from working at below prevailing local wages.
